The Short Answer

What Is Compliance Readiness Planning?

Compliance readiness planning converts the findings of a gap or readiness assessment into a sequenced plan with owners, dates, effort estimates and evidence targets, timed to a specific audit, certification or regulatory deadline. A gap report tells you what is wrong. A readiness plan tells you what to do on Monday. The plan ranks each gap by the risk it carries and how much it blocks your deadline, then groups related fixes so work is done once. Policy updates, technical controls such as MFA and encryption, process changes, training and testing each get an owner and a date. The plan also builds in the time a framework needs, such as a SOC 2 Type II observation period or a CMMC POA&M closeout window. It ends with validation: a mock audit or internal review so you see any remaining issues before the real auditor does.

Readiness planning usually follows a framework readiness assessment in a CxO engagement. The vCCO decides who should do each task, vendor-neutral: your in-house team, another provider or DAG Tech services such as managed IT, cloud or IT projects when DAG Tech is the best fit. Every task is estimated in hours so leadership sees effort and budget before work starts. The plan then becomes the tracking tool for ongoing vCCO check-ins on Clarity IT™ reserved hours.

FAQ

Compliance Readiness Planning Questions

What is compliance readiness planning?

It is the process of turning compliance gaps into a sequenced plan with owners, dates, effort estimates and evidence targets, timed to your audit, certification or regulatory deadline.

Do we need an assessment first?

Yes, or a recent one we can work from. The plan is built on specific gap findings. If you do not have a current assessment, the vCCO starts with a framework readiness assessment.

Who does the remediation work?

The plan names an owner for every task. That may be your in-house team, a provider you already use or DAG Tech when it is the best fit. The vCCO's recommendation is vendor-neutral.

How much does compliance readiness planning cost?

Every deliverable is scoped in hours at the CxO rate, based on the number of gaps and frameworks. Your proposal shows the total before work starts.

Does the plan account for framework timing rules?

Yes. The timeline includes time a framework requires, such as a SOC 2 Type II observation period, CMMC POA&M closeout limits and the NYDFS annual filing date.

What happens after the plan is delivered?

Many clients keep the vCCO on Clarity IT™ reserved hours to track progress, unblock owners and run the validation step before the formal audit.
